One of my favorite drinks is to squeeze the juice of 1 lemon, add a few drops of maple syrup, a decent splash of unsweetened pomegranate juice and top off with sparkling water. That was one of the options at the holiday event on Sunday and it’s just what we’ve been doing in life – making good from things that would otherwise be sour or a bit too tart!

It was good to safely gather last Sunday and to see the studio be transformed for an event. It’s a studio for group classes, for private sessions, for workshops and livestreaming, for recording content and for live events! How can one space be used for all of these things? Well, in terms of a space to organize and set-up it’s not so hard to figure out. But could this be a metaphor for how we move our own body and mind through these changing times?

We have just this one body and a mind that channels tens of thousands of thoughts through it a day! Can we find the right combination of things so that we can show up as our best every time no matter what’s happening? That takes practice and maybe saying every time isn’t realistic. Is it possible that a practice on a Yoga mat or out in nature can give us the chance to build on what we have and change for the better, one day at a time? Maybe that change is to learn to be more compassionate and kind versus to expect perfection.

Just like going from lemons to lemonade, some other ingredients are added and a pretty dramatic change happens in order to get the juice from the lemon. So there is work and there are some other ingredients we need to add. We may not always have access to the ones we want. And maybe the common one, like sugar in lemonade isn’t ultimately the best ingredient!

However the holiday time shows up for you, wishing you a tranformative practice of being that helps develop more peace in you and in each of us. We have what we have to work with and it’s a gift that I pray we all open with care.

Let’s stay connected,

Marc
