We’re about to say goodbye to June and what a ride it’s been: Good times, bad times, rough times and chill times. It reminds me of a rollercoaster ride with the big hills and sudden turns, slowing down moments then speeding up ones. And when you finally get off the ride, there’s an ecstatic feeling of, “what just happened?!” And even sometimes a feeling of, “I want to do it again!!”

Life. It’s some sort of ride with screams of delight, hollers of rage and profound silences of shock or contemplation. On some level, we’re all choosing to “do it again” because the changes we need to make to create an actual shift in full, present-time consciousness and compassionate awareness is far too huge to imagine. And so we feel some progress and then a slide back into dark moments that may actually be stepping stones but feel like unrepairable chasms.

But one practice at a time, which may start on our mat or cushion and then becomes a way to make one step in the ongoing march to denounce discrimination. One practice at a time, then we stand against the removal of rights and dignity. One practice at a time that inspires us to bring light to the ignorance held tightly from privilege.  One practice at a time, and then let us acknowledge that something good is happening in the world and it’s the letting go of the choke-hold we keep around ourselves. Let us see the melting of wounded hearts, our own and others.  Let us be able to see through the oppressive hand as the weak one who wishes to find greater meaning.

Let it not be a ping-pong game, but a roller coaster that we leave feeling accomplished and a rush of joy from being moved in every which direction. Let’s keep active and not fall asleep behind the illusory wheels of fortune. AND, let’s remember to rest when we need rest, and not always feel that life is nothing but a roller coaster. Let’s choose to focus back on our own practice, on the mat or cushion to restore and reclaim our birthright, which is to thrive.

May the times ahead be ones that awaken us to our best potential while on this planet, bringing greater vision that world peace is in our own hands. We must catch and implement what is useful and toss away or let go of what is not.

Let’s stay connected,
Mukunda! Marc
